Earlier this week I wore my hair out for a few days after taking out my twist. Tuesday I noticed that my hair was very dry so I decided to give it some full out tlc using Alikay Naturals sent by my friend Chels. I recorded the process and my experience to give you a little review.
my moisture deprived hair!
1. Deep conditioner- Avocado Cream Moisture Repairing Mask
Directions:Apply to wet hair. Part hair into 2-4 sections, finger comb hair to remove tangles. Apply product to your hair making paying extra attention to your ends. Massage conditioner into hair evenly from root to tips. Be sure product covers all your hair. Cover with a plastic conditioning cap and let product sit for 30 minutes in hair without heat, or get maximum moisturizing benefits either sit underneath a hooded dryer or hair steamer for 20 minutes. Rinse, style as usual.
Process: After removing tangles from my hair with my fingers I applied the deep conditioner. In this picture I have it applied to only one side to show you how it immediately smoothed my frizz. I find that a little of this product goes a long way. I covered my hair with a plastic bag (yes, a grocery bag! It's free lol) and cover the bag with a satin scarf. Things got busy (I have a toddler) so I left the conditioner on for about 4 hours. It really helped to put the much need moisture back in my hair. This is y second time using it and I can say it gets the job done.
Scent: I am personally not a fan of hair products with a strong perfume smell and this definitely has one. I'm am beginning to get used to it. If you like hair products that smell like perfume then you would enjoy the scent. The avocado deep conditioner smells like avocado mixed with African super grow grease with all the herbs in it that I used a long time ago. It really brought back memories lol.
Sipping on my breakfast and play with my son while I wait =)
2.Shampoo: Caribbean Coconut Milk Shampoo
Directions: Apply to wet hair. Massage it in and gently scrub scalp. Hair tip: For best results when shampooing don’t scrub hair in circular motion, it causes friction which causes hair breakage and tangling.
Process: I poured some of the shampoo in my hands and rubbed then together until I got a lather. I applied to my twist and massaged my scalp with the pads of my fingers. This really helped to remove the build up on my scalp. I like the water like consistency of it. It makes it easy to work with.
Scent: I enjoyed the smell. It smells like coconut! I never been on an island but I close my eyes and smell the shampoo and imagine that I am there.
3. Conditioner: Caribbean Coconut Milk ConditionerDirections:Directions: Wash you’re your with shampoo. Apply conditioner to your hair be sure to cover root to tip. Massage in gently. Leave it in while you shower 2-6 minutes. Rinse well.
Process: I did what the directions said except I rinse my hair in the sink. I usually just deep condition and skip this step but not anymore after my experience with this. I'm not sure if it was the conditioner or the entire process but my hair felt amazing after rinsing out the conditioner. I noticed when I tool \down each twist to remove any shed hair or tangles I missed my hair was so soft and easy to manipulate the tangles. My hair felt similar to how it feels when I use Terressential Lavender mud wash which I love.
Scent: smells like the shampoo.=) *thinks of tropical island again =)
4. Leave-in and seal: Lemongrass Leave In Conditioner & Moisture Rich Hair Parfait
Directions:
leave in-After washing hair, apply to wet hair by spraying it on. Be sure each strand is saturated, to ensure full protection. Style as usual. Key
seal-Can be used on wet or dry hair. After using the Lemongrass Leave in Conditioner, take a SMALL amount if Hair Parfait, and rub in palms to melt for easier application. Then apply directly to hair. To get smoother look on twisted or braided styles apply by rubbing hands down hair shaft. Style as usual. Safe for color treated hair.
Process: I took down each twist and applied the lemon grass and hair parfait and re-twisted hair. My hair had a nice shine to it which I loved My hair looked so healthy.
Scent: The lemon grass smell really nice like lemon water. The hair parfait had a strong perfume smell. It had a mango scent and maybe some other scents I could not make out.
So I wore my hair in a bun with these twist Wednesday and Thursday. Friday I took them down to wear a twist out. My hair was still moisturized, has a nice shine to it and is super soft! My hair is still holding on today (day 3 twist out). I wear my hair in two braids at night to maintain this look.
