A few months ago I decided that I will maintain loose strand twist for a while. Why?
Here are some reasons:
- It requires low manipulation even when I switch protective styles
- I can easily get rid of shed hair and finger detangle each twist (preparation for postpartum shedding)
- I can refresh them over a couple of days instead of all at once
- easy to stretch
- works well in humid weather
- I can wear them out w/ little to no single strand knots as long as I oil my ends
- I can maintain them for a month until wash day
- easy to change up look so i will not get bored
- They are super cute! =)
This style and my process of maintaining them will allow me
to care for my hair without spending too much time on it. Most of my time is
going to being a wife and a mother and taking care of myself is a part of it so adjusting my hair care routine is very
important.
Progress
Progress
last night I blew my hair out using Shea Moisture curl and style smoothie, Curl Care by Dr. Miracle’s Curl Friendly Blowout Foam and coconut oil and today I plan to start my twist.
I did a light blow out so there is still some shrinkage
(my hair reaches just past my pocket)
(now it reaches past armpit)
the back
the back stretched out
these braids will help me maintain stretch n this humid climate
I pin the braids across my hair to achieve more stretch
(more braids=more stretch)
* I take pictures of my hair to reassure myself that it is growing for the times when i feel like it is not
Reexamining Hair Journey
I used to be so anxious
to see a lot of progress in my hair growth but for a while I have not thought
about it. Having healthy hair is important to me
because of 1 Corinthians 11 but I want to
obtain and maintain it in a healthy way and being anxious to the point that I
might be obsessed or it becomes idolatry is not healthy. I started caring for my hair when God
revealed to me the truth about uncut hair. I stopped trimming my hair out of
obedience and caring for my hair should
be a reflection of obedience and not an obsession. I had to sit myself down and
reexamine my hair journey. I asked God to take the anxiety away from me and he
did. I thank God for blessing me with
long healthy hair and for the understanding of why it is important. I wish to
help other women understand the importance of healthy uncut hair and glorify God in the end.
I hope this post helped you or if you know someone it might help please
share with them.

Lord hath done for thee, and hath had
