Dry Hair and Itchy Scalp

Hello Beautiful ladies!

I want to share with you the 2 setbacks I encountered during my protective styling and my solution. I begin to experience a very itchy scalp and dry hair last month. It began to get worse and worse. The problem was that the product (Shea butter and oil mix) I was putting in my hair during my protective styles was building up throughout the week and preventing the moisture I was adding to my hair from actually penetrating my strands and maybe suffocating my scalp. It got so bad I had a scab in the middle of my scalp. It was very upsetting. I did my research then decided to combat this problem with wash and gos. I was making sure my hair stayed very clean and moisturized. I used the same process as the youtuber Alodia80 in the link here. I did mine at night, allowed my hair to dry then put it in a low bun to stretch it similar to the youtuber Denimpixie  here and in the morning I  styled it how I wish.

Products I used in order:
1. To clean: Terrenssential Lavender mud wash  (it’s very moisturizing so I do not use a conditioner that you rinse out)
2. Leave in conditioner: Shea Moisture’s curl and style smoothie
3. To seal in moisture: Raw Shea butter
4. For hold: Eco Styler gel
*I would rewash every 4-6 days (I did this for about 3.5 weeks)
This process helped me put the moisture back into my hair and kept my scalp clean and moisturized. I am not doing wash and gos for now but I wash and condition my hair more often now. I do hot oil treatments and deep condition my hair often.
I want to encourage you ladies to do your research when you come across a problem with the health of your hair because a lot of the time there is someone else that has experienced the same or similar problem. Don’t allow these setbacks to discourage you too much but think of it as a learning experience that can be used to help someone else. =)
